Our Story
The need that inspired the tremAIn apps
The first tremAIn app was not conceived as a product. Leah Tremain, M.Ed. built it to solve a problem in her own life.
After a difficult relationship, Leah could see patterns she wanted to change and skills she needed to strengthen, including setting boundaries. Counselling and years of personal growth work had introduced her to valuable skills, but she could not find digital tools that helped her use them in everyday situations.
Drawing on her background in curriculum design and decades of turning ideas into working products, Leah began building structured, AI-assisted tools for herself. She used them as situations unfolded, gradually changing patterns that had been difficult to see and even harder to break. The apps changed the trajectory of her life, helping her turn insight into lasting change.
That experience revealed a wider need. Many people know they need new skills but do not have a clear, reliable way to build them. Leah turned what worked for her into the tremAIn App Suite, a growing collection of problem-specific, evidence-informed apps that support meaningful change from understanding through to action.

Leah Tremain, M.Ed., Founder & CEO
Leah Tremain is the founder of tremAIn, bringing over 23 years of experience running Tremain Media and Tremain Visual. She holds a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, with a focus on educational media. Leah personally coded tremAIn’s original MVP, oversaw the research team, and integrated the curriculum for each AI model. For two decades, she has led Tremain Media through the evolving media landscape and grown Tremain Visual into a provider of timelapse and remote-monitoring systems, from terapixel panoramas to secure Canada-only cloud infrastructure, incubating technology innovations along the way. She is a two-time IBJJF World Master Jiu-Jitsu champion, bringing the same discipline to building products as she does to competition.Hussein Saab, Software Engineer
Hussein Saab is a backend and full-stack developer studying Computer Science at Toronto Metropolitan University, where he has been on the Faculty of Science Dean’s List since 2022. [Under Construction: 1–2 sentences on Hussein’s specific contributions to the App Suite’s backend, what he’s built and improved.] He also built SchoolMule, a student management platform adopted by 4 schools and over 2,000 students, cutting administrative workload by more than 2,000 hours a year. His broader engineering background includes backend work at IBM, where he built systems tracking millions of events a day.Graham Truax, Executive in Residence
Graham Truax brings over 30 years of experience as an entrepreneur and executive, having founded, co-founded, and advised dozens of companies to 7- and 9-figure revenues, and helped raise more than $150 million in venture and institutional financing. tremAIn began at Innovation Island, where Graham served as Executive in Residence and championed the App Suite’s place in the program, and he has also served as Executive in Residence for Tremain Visual. He now volunteers for tremAIn as an Executive in Residence mentor. In 2025, Graham and Leah Tremain co-presented “AI Futurescape” at the VIEA State of the Island Economic Summit, a fireside chat on the real risks and opportunities of adopting AI.Paul Gardner, Designer
Paul Gardner is a motion graphics artist, designer, and editor. He created the App Suite’s brand identity, including logo marks for the first four apps, along with its initial UX/UI. Paul’s work has earned a Platinum Hermes Creative Award for UW Engineering’s “Hero Video,” an Applied Arts Broadcast Graphics Series Award for TVA Sports, and a win at the Internet Advertising Competition for Best Non-Profit Online Video Campaign.Smart Steps
